A Singapore Street Vendor with a Michelin Star!

Whoever thought that Michelin stars were only appointed to the likes of Chef’s like Gordon Ramsey and the like with posh eateries and well-trained chef’s and staff….Then you were ” wrong” with a capital  “W”.

A street vendor selling Chicken and noodles has been awarded this most prestigious of awards.

Chan Hon Meng, a street food vendor at the Chinatown Complex in Singapore. From a tiny cubicle in an open-air food court, Meng serves some of the most delicious chicken and noodles around. The queues for his food are just the longest so be advised to take a snack and plenty of water. His trademark dish—chicken slathered in a Hong Kong-style soya sauce—is just $1.50 per plate.

The cheapest Michelin-starred meal in the world.

The chef—who works the shack’s entire 17-hour shift—was invited to a Michelin dinner last month but had no idea he’d be awarded a star.

This story has really warmed my heart as so many awards are given because of who you are or who you know and the ordinary man in the street just looks on……This shows that Michelin’s statement ……That it is all about ” The Food” is true.

So do I, it shows that a Michelin Star can be achieve by anyone as it is all the food and not how well connected you are. I am also pleased that Singapore is nt a million miles from me and I will be joining hs queue very soon 🙂

It’s been a very long week, topped off by a visit to the dentist this afternoon so I really, really needed cheering…and this post did it with room to spare! Wonderful. 🙂
