This should be fun…I love my food…I love living…I have much I want to do… I don’t want to be sick with anything that I have control over…Notice I said I..moi..me..myself…

What have I been drinking this week?... My first drink of the day…A small glass of hot water, with a tbsp of apple cider vinegar, 2 tsp raw honey and about a tsp of freshly grated ginger…

Apple cider vinegar with honey and ginger

I do alternate my drinks every so often but I also think this has helped curb my sweet tooth…Oh yes…This girl used to love her cakes and sweets…I still do but I don’t crave them anymore and if I do see something and think I fancy that then I may buy it but can just have a piece or one sweet and really enjoy it…but truly I couldn’t eat the whole packet like I used too… Is it my age? Has cutting out sweet, sugary drinks and caffeine curbed my sweet tooth???

Over to you...

What changes have you made to your drinks??? Tell me in comments I would love to know …

Before I turn to what I snack on as promised…

It’s Pancake day today! Shrove Tuesday and tomorrow is the start of Lent.

https://blondieaka.wordpress.com/2018/02/10/shrove-tuesday-aka-pancake-day-mardi-gras-or-fat-tuesday/

I am having a pancake…complete with Lime and sugar( i Can’t) get lemons… I am going to enjoy it! I am not going to feel guilty and neither should you…

We cannot go through life avoiding all these days of the year which tempt us with …yes unhealthy goodies…Can we???

MODERATION…Simples!

Enjoy!

My snacks.

Honestly, I don’t snack a lot but when I do… I have a fridge full of pickles, Pickled Jalapenos and I eat a small piece of feta cheese and a couple of cherry tomatoes.

Pickled cabbage ( Pak dong), Pickled onions, pickled cucumber and Pickled Garlic…occassionally I pickle watermelon rinds and pickled eggs. All little nibbles to enjoy!

https://blondieaka.wordpress.com/2017/07/26/healthy-eating-just-pickled/

I might make a small bowl of fresh salsa or guacamole( occasionally) and here is where the moderation kicks in IF I eat Doritos ( moderation)

But make your own healthy chips for dips…

Salt and Vinegar Kale chips.

kale-2317181_1920

Just tear leaves from a bunch of kale then toss in 2 tbsp of Olive oil, I tbsp of Apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp of sea salt and 1 tsp of maple syrup.

Spread on a baking tray and bake at 180 for about 10 minutes turning after 5 mins and bake until crisp and dry. Cool down and enjoy either on their own or with some fresh salsa…

Vary kale chips by adding some garlic…Play with your flavours get the kids to help…

Beetroot and rosemary chips

Peel a medium beetroot and thinly slice with a mandolin if you have one or use a vegetable peeler. Arrange on a baking tray and sprinkle with a little Olive oil. Bake 180 degrees for about 20 minutes until the edges dry out. Sprinkle with a tsp of chopped rosemary and bake for a further 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack they will crisp as they cool down.

Yes so do I …I eat the smooth kale which is not as tough as what I call the curly kale we grow it ourselves on the farm so can pick it young… Not sure where you live but it may be called Chinese kale in some places 🙂

I start my day with a pint of repid water with a tablespoon of lemon Juice. The lemon at body temp chilates some iron from my liver, with Genetic Haemochromatosis my fluid intake is essential. I drink a pint glass of water before I eat anything. Rehydrating every one ill or just watching your weight helps with weight loss.

I have water first when I get up in the morning. I have eaten kale raw in a salad or use it in a chickpea curry, but your kale snack recipe looks tempting. I will try it and also the beetroot chips, I didn’t know they were so easy to make. And I do yoga daily and walk too. 🙂

Water is fine and I drink water throughout the day..I just find that aple helps aid my digestion and makes me feel better…I eat kale cooked we like Kale and grow our own on the farm I haven’t added it salad and I know I should as I like it every other way. Yes, most snacks like that are fairly quick and easy to make …I always do some yoga when I am on holiday but generally just walk every day 🙂

You are absolutely correct. The trick is to include favorite foods WITHOUT feeling guilty. I taught my patients to determine AHEAD of time when to eat comfort foods. This placed THEM in control rather than allowing cravings to dictate when comfort food consumption would occur. Truly empowering and effective.

I avoid soda, so high in sugar. Today I want to try your apple cider drink with honey with the hope it will curb my appetite and promote good digestion. The dried apples remind me of my grandmother’s apple “schnitz,” a winter treat I relished as a child.

I hope you enjoy the apple cider drink..to start with I found it a little sharp but I am used to it now..the addition of ginger is quite new for me …I love fresh ginger and just thought I would try some grated in my drink and I love it. I think it is just about adjusting something to your personal taste. I am pleased the apples reminded you of your grandmother and yes soda/fizzy drinks are lethal so loaded with sugars. If I drink anything I drink club soda which is carbonated water and no sugar or anything else added…I drink it sometimes with ice and fresh lime and always add to my wine for easy drinking 🙂

I have totally cut out pops, any candy; sweet, chocolate and bread due to health reasons for more than 2 months and truly do not miss it anymore. I have a small bowl of overnight oats with almond milk and yoghurt for breakfast. A spinach wrap with whatever leftovers from our evening meal for lunch and then our evening meal, whatever my husband prepares, as he is semi retired and at home, so does most of the cooking for us. If I do snack it would be 2-3 pieces of dried fruit like applerings, mango or peaches or whatever I have available. I know I should drink more water, but still working on that. Yes, I have lots sone weight, but that is a side benefit, as I feel much better than prior starting on this experimental journey.

Let’s see changing what I drink – I used to drink 3-6 diet pops a day. My doctors said, what are you doing? So now I drink water instead. It really helps!!!
