Orienthailiving and Retired no one told me…Weekly roundup…The letter B, blood pressure and Wat Bang Riang.

Carol's weekly update 22 march

Welcome to another weekly roundup of my posts and what a week it was last week I finally got back on-line properly after nearly a week on Sunday…

Starting the weekly roundup was my post for the recipe for Jalapeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese…They are really quite yummy and judging by the response the post got so did many others think so as well.

Stuffed jalapenos cooked

Next was my monthly post over on the Recipe Hunter...It was the letter B in my trawl of the culinary alphabet… Not many of you had heard of Barding which sort of surprised me …If you haven’t either then all will be revealed and so much more if you read the post.

THE Culinary Alphabet collage letter B

It was then Fruity Friday but it was not published until the Sunday when I was finally back online.

Not being able to get on-line sort of threw me somewhat and it has been a funny week this week I have felt a bit disjointed and not quite with it…

Monday saw the re-posting of one of my older posts about Healthy foods which may help reduce the blood pressure…Again a very popular post…Blood pressure is something so many people suffer from and much can be done by exercising and looking at what you eat… word of the year…haha

Bootcamp was next… How to eat the foods you love and lose weight…Moderation and no excuses is my mantra…as if we don’t follow a sensible eating plan then we are just letting ourselves down…No one else just yourself!

No More Excuses

Who do you cheat??? Yourself!

Now I eat meat...Yes, I do and fish… But I also like meat-free days…My friend Richard whom I first met in Phuket and who moved to Germany shares his love of cooking with me…We both love experimenting and he made this awesome Chilli with lentils...He also made a Thai dish with lentils which I will share with you very soon…

Richards vegetarian chilli

Lentils I can do…It’s this Tofu which I haven’t yet tried and my OFFER is still open if anyone cooks with Tofu please share with me and I will promote you on my blog if you have tried and tested recipes with Tofu you can guest post…I DON’T AND HAVEN’T EATEN TOFU…EVER…DO I WANT TO? NOT PARTICULARLY….I am being honest here…Tempt my taste buds!

I try most things...Come on this is the girl who eats ants eggs, crispy fried insects and has tried fermented fish and Durian…Not Tofu! NOT YET!

Wednesday it was over to Sally’s for my weekly Food column and this week I had a recipe for some lovely lemongrass skewers,,,I was watching MKR today and two of the contestants made some quite similar but moulded the meat mix around sugar cane which sounded very nice although I love lemon so would probably prefer using lemongrass skewers still.

Lastly my first post for a week over on Orienthailiving which is a post on Wat Bang Riang which is a lovely temple situated in the hills in the Phrang Nga district.

Retired No One Told me and Orienthailiving weekly roundup…Health, Heaven and Hell!

Welcome to my weekly roundup of posts…First things first though…

Happy International Women’s Day to all you ladies out there…You Rock!

The sculptures are quite graphic in a …and I am searching for the word here…some look a little like paper mache figures and the painting is crude but it gets the message over …Be Good!

It is then over to some unusual recipes… I don’t know how many of you read my post on Jack Fruit over at Sally’s ?… It is classed as the Wonder Tree and was not a fruit I had eaten much of even though I have a tree in my garden which bears copious amounts of these very large fruits every year but I cooked it as I had heard it was popular with many vegans as a substitute for pulled pork …

Moi yes me who questions everything…I must have been a teacher’s nightmare as a kid…Well, it is now being promoted as a very viable alternative which can feed the world. See this article which Sally from Smorgasbord sent me…With the comment ..look what I have started…Who me???

More about exotic fruits here…

Fruity Friday and this week it was the turn of the very vibrant, pretty Dragon Fruit.

Carol cooks! Dragon Fruit

It was then the turn of Sally with more wise words on Hydrogenated Fats…Well worth a read if you missed it and if you didn’t worth another read…I always read articles like this more than once so that I can digest it all…

cropped-for-web Sally Cronin

I then took a little break, not for any particular reason I was just doing maintenance on older posts and checking links etc… Tidying photos up and making sure they had a description much easier to find now.

Tuesday it was Boot camp where I told you a little about what I eat and I also tested a new protein drink …using fresh fruit, coconut water and cashew nuts but using dates for sweetener instead of honey which is my preferred sweetener…It was nice but I prefered the raspberry one I made the week before.

No more diets

I just keep reading about the levels of iron in these protein powders and just know that in a few years time when people start getting sick and it is attributed to protein powders I will be proved right once again. It happens time and time again and to me, it seems the consumer never learns…

Lastly, it is my food column over at Sally’s place. My recipes for Hot Cross buns and fish for Easter which falls on April the Ist this year.

That’s all for my weekly round-up this week… I am now popping over to Sally’s to celebrate International Women’s Day 🙂 xx

Are you coming ????

Retired no one told me and Orienthailiving weekly roundup…Star fruit, Pickled eggs and Protein Drinks

It’s that time again I just don’t know where the time goes…Do You? Have you had a good week? A good response to your posts? Learnt something new I know I do every day and I love it!

The first post into the starting blocks for my weekly roundup is the beautiful white sands of Lancelin in WA… The sand is a brilliant white all 22 miles of it and we were very lucky to see wild ostrich I was so busy trying to spot the elusive Roos I didn’t expect a flock of Ostriches to appear…Also, Lancelin is special as it where my grandson and others set a world record for which I claim unapologetically Nan’s bragging rights for the longest off-road muster….yeah confirmed and in the Guinness book of records.

After all that bragging it was back over for Fruity Fridays and the popular Banana.

Fruity Fridays Banana

Then Saturday over on Orienthailiving it was Travel Australia. One of my favourite places to visit…Then afterwards the Lobster shack for the best lobster…

THE Pinnacles

Then I got pickled! Pickled Eggs (2)

Protein Drinks...were next always a controversial subject with me..well anything mass produced is if I am honest…Look at my homemade one so vibrant and good for you…

Raspberry Protein Shake

Wednesdays is the day when the lovely Sally lets me loose with my chatter and recipes on Smorgasbord…My food Column where Carol Cook’s…

Lastly, it was back over to Orienthailiving and a visit to the Sala Keow Sculpture Park a park full of giant sculptures.

Sala Keo ku Park. 4

That’s all for this weeks roundup I hope you enjoyed reading my posts if you did miss any make sure you don’t next week and just follow my blogs…

Tomorrow it is Fruity once again and I am showcasing??????? Won’t you just have to wait and see??? xx

Retired no one told me and Orienthailiving weekly roundup…Recipes, ranting and back door trots…

What a week this has been... Have I got the mother of all roundups for you just in case you missed any of my posts…

I started with my recipe for Asian style ribs... And guess what the first time we made them they were awesome but I was the sous chef on that occasion and not paying too much attention…..I was chopping and julienning the ginger and writing down the recipe while taking photos…One’s son was cooking the said ribs… They were AWESOME THE BEST!

Take 2!

Mum pulled up the recipe and we started preparing the ribs…

There then ensued a conversation as to which soy sauce was used… I had written the recipe down WRONG ….who would think one word would make a difference…Oh, it did! Trust me…. Black Soy…Black Soy Black Soy…I will not be forgetting that!

I have also amended the recipe and apologise to anyone who used just regular soy…

Then it was over to my blog Orienthailiving for a post on the upcoming Songkran Festival…Thai New Year where there are lots of very welcome water throwing which cools you down in this heat…It is a fun-filled few days and this is one of my all-time favourite photos of my grandson enjoying Songkran…complete with a wig, flowery shirt and water pistol.

Aston Songkran

I think this was my rant of the week/century I was/ am appalled at the duplicity of manufacturers regarding the consumer’s health.

Plastics the truth…

Next another of my favourites Gumbo…

It is also my monthly post over on TRH time and I have started a Culinary crawl through the alphabet..not sure if Esme realises that she has me every month for the next 2 plus years …hahaha

I love waterfalls and we have them in abundance here and this one although a small waterfall is a charming place to visit and I was lucky it was just up the road from my house…a lovely stroll in the sun away…

Ton tai waterfall

Fruity Fridays!

The turn of the Fig…not particularly the prettiest of fruits but very good for you and lovely with bacon but so is everything…Too many and you get the back door trots…but just enough and they keep you regular…

Continuing with my Travel Thailand theme for this week is the lovely Koh Panyee, sea gipsy village… complete with a floating football pitch it is a complete village in the middle of the sea

houses on stilts Koh Panyee

We then saw the lovely Sally reblog a post very dear to my own heart written some time ago and I am saddened that the problem seems to have worsened rather than got better…

cropped-for-web Sally Cronin

I then thought this post needed another airing …Turmeric

Phew…I didn’t realise I wrote so much in a week…

Healthy Eating… A cause dear to my heart… no diets, no counting calories, no feeling guilty…Just a good balanced diet and moderation coupled with your chosen exercises…AND

My final post for this week over on Orienthailiving was the happiest animal on earth The Quokka and they love the sweet potato…

quokka-Rottnest Island

My Wednesday cookery column over at Sally’s was HOT!

Over here on Retired No One Told Me and after typing this lot out…They definitely didn’t! …lol

Is the very tasty, healthy alternative to rice… Tada…Cauliflower rice…Now just in case you were wondering and thought I was teasing you by showing the Pork and Thai basil dish I ate mine with…so I have added the link for you…

I hope you have enjoyed this roundup and to ensure you don’t miss any more of my posts please subscribe to my blogs…
